Tricia has over 25 years of experience. She has a BS/BA from the Univeristy of North Carolina in Chapel Hill. Certified in 1982, she began her public accounting career with what is now Ernst & Young, CPAs and KPMG Peat Marwick, CPAs. Tricia moved to corporate America and held a variety of positions with AMR, Inc (American Airlines) including; Internal and External Auditing, Business and Marketing Planning, Competitive Analysis, Business Acquisitions and Development and Chief Financial Officer for a $70 Million subsidiary of the airline. She also completed a Masters in Business Administration in 1993.

Tricia was a monthly columnist for The Denver Business Journal for 9 years, writing articles on every aspect of owning and managing a small business. Topics included Bookkeeping 101, Time Management, Retirement Planning, Risk Management, Budgeting and Business Planning, Inspiring and Retaining Key Employees, Interpreting Financial Statements, and a host of other subjects. To this day she receives e-mails from people who have found her articles on-line written as many as 10 years ago.

The variety of positions held and experience gained by her ten years with American make Tricia more than the run-of-the-mill CPA with no other experience than Public Accounting. She has gained the kind of experience that can only come from having held many different positions, having reported to the highest level of Management and having dealt with the many issues with which today's small business owners are confronted.

Tricia began her own firm in 1993 and now has 16 years of experience preparing Tax Returns for Individuals, C Corporations, S Corporations, LLCs, Partnerships, etc. She provides General Business Consultation, Budgeting and Business Planning services, as well as, Tax Planning, Compilations, Write-Up Services, Financial Statement Preparation.

Donna has more than 35 years experience in both public and private accounting as well as individual and business income tax return preparation. She has been self-employed her entire business career. Consequently, she specializes in the design of accounting systems for, and the tax laws related to, closely held business entities, such as C-Corporations and S-Corporations, small Partnerships and LLCs. Her business clients include small retailers, medical practices and physicians, law firms, housing and other construction-related firms, and other licensed personal service-oriented professionals. Her clients are located throughout the United States and Canada.

Donna is a Certified QuickBooks Pro Advisor. She designs QuickBooks accounting systems to meet each client's special circumstances. Her technical approach is to create an accounting system that facilitates the preparation of the client's income tax returns as well other year-end reports. She provides QuickBooks software and data entry training, but most importantly, she teaches her clients how to interpret the reports that QuickBooks can create.

Donna's business mission is to provide compassionate financial care giving through her expertise, experience, talents and skills in combination with her personal attention to each of her clients. Donna's philosophical approach is to establish a long-term working relationship with each client, to assist with tax planning, with making informed financial decisions and with achieving financial goals. She maintains direct communication with her clients all year long via our firm's website and our firm's quarterly newsletters. Donna helps her clients proactively make choices rather than reactively deal with consequences.

Donna prepares individual income tax returns, estate asset and income tax returns, gift tax returns, and trust income tax returns. She has testified as an expert witness in litigation cases in Colorado and Utah. She has been a public speaker at legal and taxation seminars in the Denver Metro area, and she has served as a voluntary board member for several local non-profit organizations.

Donna graduated from Colorado State University (Fort Collins, CO) in 1972 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration that emphasized managerial accounting. From 1972 to 1977, she worked in her family's multi-million dollar general contracting firm that employed more than 200 personnel.. She started her public accounting and tax practice in 1977 and in 1990 she earned her CPA Certificate from the State of Colorado.

Donna met Tricia in 1993 at the University of Denver Graduate Tax Program, and they began their longstanding professional collaboration, ultimately creating O'Connor & Ward, CPAs, LLC.
