Donna graduated from Colorado State University (Fort Collins, CO) in 1972 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration that emphasized managerial accounting. From 1972-1977, she was Vice President and Treasurer of a General Contracting Firm in Aurora, Colorado with annual gross revenues exceeding $10 Million (that equals $100 million in current dollars) and that employed more than 200 construction personnel. That experience provided her with a strong background in construction job costing and project accounting, inventory controls, certified payrolls, and dealing with federal and local government agencies such as the Department of the Interior, the Army Corps of Engineers, and the Oklahoma City Housing Authority.

In 1977, she started her accounting and tax practice. Her specialties are: 1) tax return preparation for individuals and self-employed taxpayers, and 2) the business taxation of closely held C-Corporations and S-Corporations, Partnerships and LLCs. Her clients include small retailers, medical practices and physicians, law firms, construction-related firms, and service professionals. In 2008, Donna celebrates 31 years in public practice. Her clients are located throughout the United States, with several clients in Canada and Europe too.

Donna also has testified as an expert witness in litigation cases in Colorado and Utah. She has been a public speaker at legal and taxation seminars in the Denver Metro area, and she has served as a voluntary board member for several local non-profit organizations.

Her professional philosophy has been to provide compassionate financial care giving through the use of her talents, skills, expertise and experience in combination with her personal attention to the unique situations presented by each of her clients.

Donna and Tricia met in 1993 at the University of Denver Graduate Tax Program and began their longstanding professional collaboration, ultimately creating O'Connor & Ward, CPAs, LLC.

Tricia has over 25 years of experience. She has a BS/BA from the Univeristy of North Carolina in Chapel Hill. Certified in 1982, she began her public accounting career with what is now Ernst & Young, CPAs and KPMG Peat Marwick, CPAs. Tricia moved to corporate America and held a variety of positions with AMR, Inc (American Airlines) including; Internal and External Auditing, Business and Marketing Planning, Competitive Analysis, Business Acquisitions and Development and Chief Financial Officer for a $70 Million subsidiary of the airline. She also completed a Masters in Business Administration in 1993.

Tricia was a monthly columnist for The Denver Business Journal for 9 years, writing articles on every aspect of owning and managing a small business. Topics included Bookkeeping 101, Time Management, Retirement Planning, Risk Management, Budgeting and Business Planning, Inspiring and Retaining Key Employees, Interpreting Financial Statements, and a host of other subjects. To this day she receives e-mails from people who have found her articles on-line written as many as 10 years ago.

The variety of positions held and experience gained by her ten years with American make Tricia more than the run-of-the-mill CPA with no other experience than Public Accounting. She has gained the kind of experience that can only come from having held many different positions, having reported to the highest level of Management and having dealt with the many issues with which today's small business owners are confronted.

Tricia began her own firm in 1993 and now has 14 years of experience preparing Tax Returns for Individuals, C Corporations, S Corporations, LLCs, Partnerships, etc. She provides General Business Consultation, Budgeting and Business Planning services, as well as, Tax Planning, Compilations, Write-Up Services, Financial Statement Preparation.
